Adding AWS cloud provider

This topic describes the procedure on how to add AWS EC2 cloud provider in ManageIQ.

Procedure

  1. Log in to your ManageIQ and navigate Compute > Cloud > Providers.
  2. Click Configuration and then click Add a New Cloud Provider.
  3. On the Add a New Cloud Provider page, fill the fields as follow:
    • Type: Select Amazon EC2 from the drop-down options.
    • Name: Enter name for the cloud provider, for example, aws
    • Zone: Select zone, for example, default
    • Region: Select region from the drop-down options
    • Endpoints: This is optional, fill as necessary
    • Access Key ID: Enter the access key ID that you noted in Installing and Configuring AWS.
    • Secret Access Key: Enter the secret access key that you noted in Installing and Configuring AWS.
    • Click Validate, once successfully validated, click Add.

What to do next

Once you added the cloud provider successfully, make a note of the provider flavors and images details that are needed while configuring Maximo IT, follow the below steps:
  1. AWS Flavors
    • Log in to your ManageIQ and navigate to Compute > Cloud > Providers.
    • On the Cloud Providers page, click on the listed cloud provider.
    • On aws (Dashboard), click the Flavors box.
    • On aws (All Flavors), all the flavors are listed with configuration details. Choose the flavors, for AWS EC2 instance configuration, and make a note of the name of flavors, for example, c3.2xlarge, c3.4xlarge, etc.
      Note: The EC2 instance that you want to create/manage from Maximo IT uses these flavors configurations. The name that you note here is needed while configuring details in Maximo IT.
  2. AWS Images
    • Log in to your ManageIQ and navigate to Compute > Cloud > Providers.
    • On the Cloud Providers page, click on the listed cloud provider.
    • On aws (Dashboard), click the Images box.
    • On aws (All Images), all the images are listed with configuration details. Choose the images, for AWS EC2 instance configuration, and click on the images. Make a note of the Management Engine GUID of the images that you have chosen.
      Note: The EC2 instance that you want to create/manage from Maximo IT uses these images configurations. The Management Engine GUID that you note here is needed while configuring Maximo IT.
