Copying configuration items

Copying a configuration item lets you create similar records without having to provide the same information over again. When you copy a configuration item, all the information from the existing configuration item is copied.

About this task

1. In the Configuration Items application, select the configuration item that you want to copy.
2. Choose the Duplicate CI action.

   This action copies the configuration item record, including classification, attributes, and values in all other fields, except the Configuration Item field.

3. In the Configuration Item field, provide a name for the new configuration item.
4. Optional: Provide a description for the new configuration item.
5. Optional: Change existing information, as necessary.
6. Save your changes.
