Duplicating an Incident

You might want to duplicate an incident or an incident and its child activities. If the incident does not have child activities, the system duplicates the incident. If the incident does have child activities, the system displays a dialog in which you specify which to duplicate.

You might need security authorization to perform this action.

Duplicating an incident that does not have child activities

  1. Select the Duplicate Incident action. The system duplicates the incident and displays a confirmation message.

Duplicating an incident that has child activities

  1. Select the Duplicate Incident action. The system displays the Duplicate Record dialog.

  2. Select one of the following actions:

    • Duplicate Incident

    • Duplicate Incident and Activities

  3. Click OK . The system duplicates only the incident or duplicates the incident, activities, tasks and task children.

Information not duplicated

The following types of information are not copied to the duplicate incident:  
Related records
Information about global incidents
Log entries
Information about the originating record
Date fields
Failure information other than Failure Class and Problem Code
