Viewing details about a software catalog

Use the Software Catalog application to display several key details about the software catalog associated with the currently displayed software.

About this task

Details about the software catalog include the name of the catalog, its database instance identifier, its data version, and the date and time of its last modification. This information allows you to view the source of the currently displayed software record and verify that its version number and modification time, as recorded in the Maximo® database, are in synch with its external source, typically the knowledge base or a discovery tool database.

You can only view catalog information for software whose catalog records originated with Asset Discovery for z/OS® or a discovery tool (for the latter, the prefilled fields always default to Third-party). You cannot view catalog information for software whose catalog records that were entered manually, because manual records do not originate with an external software catalog.

The steps for viewing details about a software catalog follow.

Procedure

  1. On the navigation bar, click Open Menu > Administration > Deployed Assets > Software Catalog.
  2. Place the cursor in the Software Name field. Type a filter term if you want to limit the list of records. Click Enter.
  3. Select the record whose software catalog information you want to view.
The catalog record is displayed on the Software tab.
  4. Select the View Software Catalog Information action.
Details about the software catalog associated with the currently displayed catalog record appear in the Software Catalog Information window.

Note that the View Software Catalog Information action is available on all tabs, but not on the record list.
