Finding software products to view or work with

Use the Software Catalog application to view all or a subset of all the software records in the catalog, or locate a particular software record that you want to work with further.

About this task

When using the Software Catalog application to look for software, displaying all records in the record list can generate thousands of software catalog entries. The table filter and the Advanced Search feature offer many ways to search for and filter the software catalog entries. You can also use these search features to reduce the number of entries in the record list to a default 200 entries (unless configured otherwise) or less, which is required before you can select multiple records to work with.
Tip: When searching with the table filter, you can use the Catalog Name field to find records imported either from the knowledge base or from discovery tool databases. The knowledge base records all default to IBM SwKBT. The recordAsset Discovery for z/OS®s all default to Asset Discovery for z/OS. Other discovery tool records all default to Third-party.

The steps for finding software products to view or work with follow.

Procedure

  1. On the navigation bar, click Open Menu > Administration > Deployed Assets > Software Catalog.
  2. Place the cursor in the Software Name field. Type a filter term or use Advanced Search if you want to limit the list of records. Click Enter.
  3. To view or work with one or more software records displayed in the Software table window, do one of the following:
    • Click on a single record to go directly to the Software tab and open the record. Click on subsequent tabs for additional details related to the record.
    • Select the records you want to work with, then click the tab or select an action appropriate for your task.

To select multiple catalog records from the record list, check the Select Records check box and then check one or more records that you want to work with. If you subsequently select a tab, the last-selected record is displayed. From the toolbar, you can click the Previous Record and Next Record icons to page back and forth through the records that you selected in the record list.

If you select nothing in the record list, any actions that you select affects all the records displayed in the record list.
