Associating labor with crafts

In the Crafts application, you associate labor records with an existing craft. Crafts that are associated with labor indicate the skills that the laborer has. When you manage assignments, you can find available laborers with the appropriate skills.

About this task

For a work order, specifying a skill level helps to determine the rate that is charged by the labor code, based on the level of expertise. When you specify a skill level, the standard rate for the skill level overwrites the craft rate in the Standard Rate field and Rate field.

Procedure

  1. In the Crafts application, select the craft record with which you want to associate a labor record.
  2. Click the Associated Labor tab.
  3. Click New Row.
  4. Specify values for labor, skill level, and rate.
  5. Optional: To have the labor rates default to the rate and rate type from the standard and premium pay rates, select the Inherit check box.
When the check box is selected, the Rate field becomes read-only.
  6. Optional: Specify a vendor and a contract.
You can associate a labor record with a contracted rate only if the contract is approved.
  7. Save your changes.
