Assisted workflows

A process workflow is a predefined series of steps that result in the completion of a task or a series of tasks. This product uses workflows in two ways: to manage process requests, such as the Add Change to Release request; and to automate or assist the performance of a task.

You use the Workflow Designer application to create, view, modify, and delete Workflow process records that reflect your business process. An active Workflow process revision defines the different paths that a record can take as it moves through the business process, and the different actions and notifications that should take place at different points in the process. The Workflow Designer application is accessible from the System Configuration module. Click System Configuration > Platform Configuration > Workflow Designer to access the application.

You can use a built-in set of workflows to simplify the performance of common tasks. The following table lists and briefly describes the built-in workflows. You can also view the workflows in the Workflow Designer application. All of the workflows that are provided with the product begin with the letters PMREL.
