Previewing data import

Use this task to preview any error conditions that may occur when you import a CSV file using the Quick Configuration application. When you preview the import of a CSV file, any errors encountered with the import are displayed and the data is not committed to the database.

Before you begin

Before you perform this task, review the topics describing the structure for CSV files and the best practices for data import.

Previewing the import of large files is not recommended. Before importing a large file, preview the import of a smaller version of the file first. If the user session times out before the preview is complete (30 minutes by default), the preview information will be lost.

Procedure

  1. From the user interface, select Open Menu > System Configuration > Platform Configuration > Quick Configuration.
  2. On the Data Loading tab, select the type of object that corresponds to the type of data you will load.
  3. Click the Load data button.
  4. Click Browse. Navigate to the CSV input file and select it.
  5. Select the Import Preview checkbox to test the import of the CSV data.
  6. Click OK.
    When the preview is complete a status message is displayed.
