Creating migration collections

The groups of configuration records that you migrate to another environment are migration collections. A migration collection can contain one or more configuration records of many types.

About this task

You can add a configuration record to a migration collection only if the record is supported by a migration object that can migrate the data that is contained in the record. Each configuration record in a migration collection is identified by its keys. Related configuration records can also be added to migration collections.

Procedure

  1. In the Migration Collections application, click New Migration Collection.
  2. On the Migration Collection tab, specify a name for the collection.
  3. Optional: To enable other users to modify or delete the collection, select Is Public.
  4. In the Configurations section, click New Row.
  5. In the Application field, select the application from which you want to select configuration records and then click Go To Application.
  6. In the List tab of the application that you selected, select a configuration record and then click Return With Value.
  7. Add additional records to the migration collection.
  8. Save the migration collection.

What to do next

After you create or modify a migration collection, validate it to ensure that it is complete.
