Enabling automated creation of authorized assets and CIs

Automated creation is an option that must be enabled in the Classifications application before any automatic creating of authorized assets and CIs can occur. You enable automated creation whenever you want to automatically create and manage an authorized asset or CI with minimal data before one has been discovered or created manually with more complete data.

About this task

When the Autocreate option is enabled, the asset-CI reconciliation task, CCILinkAssetsAndCIs, automatically creates a matching, generic, authorized CI when any new asset is created, and automatically creates a matching, generic, authorized asset when any new CI is created. Automated creation occurs only when a matching authorized asset or CI cannot be found and linked by the asset-CI reconciliation task, and the reconciliation task is active. (By default, automated creation is disabled and the reconciliation task is inactive.)

Assets and CIs for a particular classification will be automatically created after the Autocreate box in the Classifications application is checked for that specific asset and CI classification where you want to generate an authorized asset or CI, if the authorized resource does not exist.

Note: Automated creation, after checking of the Autocreate box, is not instantaneous. The asset-CI reconciliation task, which does the creating, must be made active. Automated creation then occurs on the schedule set for the reconciliation task.
