Managing live chat operations: Service Desk manager
On an ongoing basis, the Service Desk manager can perform
a number of operations to manage and oversee the operation of live
chats across the enterprise. He can change the status of a chat queue,
inspect the activity of agents in the queues, and perform other tasks
that ensure efficient operation of the live chat service.
Using the Chat Queues queries
If your organization installed optional content when you installed this product, predefined queries are provided in the Available Queries section of the navigation bar when you open Person Groups application. You can use these queries to quickly find person groups that pertain to the live chat feature.
Tracking chat data
You can query the PMTCOLIVECHATSTATS database table to retrieve data about chats that occur in the data center. A new row is added to the table for every chat. Querying the table gives you the information you need to ensure a high level of end user service, track agent productivity, and perform other tasks that maximize the efficiency of the live chat feature.
Changing the status of a chat queue
At any time after you designate a person group as a chat queue, you can change the status of the queue to make the queue available or unavailable for chats. You can change the status of several person groups at once, or you can change the status of an individual person group record.
Viewing agent and chat status
You can use the Chat Queue tab of the Person Groups application to view a list of all of the agents who belong to a chat queue person group. You can also inspect the status of individual agents, review in-progress chat information, and inspect details about chat requests that are awaiting an agent response.
Disabling live chats during database administration
From time to time, product administrators must configure and administer the product database to ensure efficient operation of Maximo IT across the enterprise. Before putting the database into administration mode, you must turn off all live chat functionality so that chat data is not lost.
