Updating the same Details attributes for multiple software catalog records
Use the Software Catalog application to update, with a single action, several common attributes for all software the catalog records selected in a list.
About this task
The attributes that you can update for multiple software
catalog records at the same time are located in the Details section
of the Software tab:
- Managed As
- Specifies how the selected software products need to be managed by the enterprise. You can leave the field blank or click the Select Value icon to choose one of the available options for all selected records: Authorized, Ignored, Managed, or Prohibited.
- Reviewed
- Indicates whether all the selected software catalog records were reviewed to ensure that their
names conform with enterprise naming conventions. If all the software names conform and are
consistent with their preferred product name or one of its variants, you should mark the
check box as reviewed. Otherwise, you can create a conversion variant, or alias, for the
nonconforming records and then mark the check box as reviewed. The software name for an imported record is a read-only field, so if the name does not match the preferred software name, you must assign it a conversion variant. (If you were allowed to rename the catalog records themselves rather than use variants, your new names would be overwritten in the database the next time, and every time, fresh data was imported by Integration Composer. For this reason, Integration Composer clears the Reviewed check box whenever it creates a record during a data import from an external source.)Note: The names of software that originated from Tivoli® Software Knowledge Base Toolkit or Tivoli Asset Discovery for z/OS® must be managed in those applications.
- Points
- Indicates the number of licensing points associated with the software product. The total of all the software product points (mainframe and distributed) cannot exceed the product's total points entitlement in the license.
When you enter a value for one or more attributes in the Update Catalog Attributes window, any existing values for the currently selected software catalog records is overwritten with the new values you specify. Note that, unlike external attributes, the values that you enter in the fields for the attributes are not overwritten with every data import.
The steps for updating the same Details attributes for multiple software catalog records follow.
