Locating unreviewed software for naming consistency
Use the Software Catalog application to find any unreviewed software in the current software catalog that was imported from external discovery tools. You need to reconcile each unreviewed software catalog record with its various software releases and versions, to ensure that the preferred, or target, software name is used consistently for all of them.
About this task
The Reviewed field is significant only for records imported from discovery tool databases. When software data is imported from a discovery tool databases, by default the software record is marked as not reviewed. When those records are displayed, the Reviewed radio button on the Software tab is empty, and the Reviewed column in the software record list displays N (for No, or "not reviewed").
This feature lets you retrieve records newly imported into the database (by searching for an N in the Reviewed field) and verify that their names conform with your naming conventions. If the software names conform and are consistent for each variant of the same product, you can mark them as reviewed Y (for Yes, or "reviewed"). If they do not conform with your naming conventions, you can create a record that specifies the appropriate name for the software and associate variants with it.
Note that software catalog records imported from Asset Discovery for z/OS® have their Reviewed flag set to Y by default, and that setting cannot be cleared. In this case, any reviews for consistency must be done from the knowledge base before exporting the data.
The steps for locating unreviewed software follow.
