Validating a baseline

Validating a baseline verifies that the member CIs and the corresponding actual CIs can be located in the CMDB, and that they have not been decommissioned.

Before you begin

About this task

You can validate a baseline at any time, before or after you activate it. If you created and saved a baseline, and you are returning to edit it further after a period of time, you might want to validate it before you resume editing. Validating is especially useful if you plan to add more members that are related to a current member.

Any user can validate a baseline. Validation is performed automatically when you activate a baseline version.

Procedure

  1. Click Open menu > IT Infrastructure > CI Baselines to open the CI Baselines application.
  2. Open the baseline version that you want to validate. Be sure that you have saved your latest changes before validating.
  3. Choose the Validate action.

What to do next

If the validation process finds any errors, resolve them before continuing to work on this baseline.
