Changing the status of assets

You use the Assets application to change the status of an asset. Assets have a designated status that indicates whether they are operational. When you create an asset record, the default status is Not Ready.

About this task

When you change the status of an asset, you can select an option to apply the new status to all child assets.

If a rotating asset has a status of Decommissioned, you cannot change the status for this asset. The Decommissioned status indicates that the rotating asset has been returned to the vendor. The asset record becomes a history record that cannot be changed.

Procedure

  1. From the Assets application, display the asset whose status you want to change.
  2. Select the Change Status action.
  3. In the New Status field, select a status from the drop-down list.
  4. Click OK.
