Changing item numbers

You can change the item number of the current rotating asset record.

About this task

Changing item numbers is useful because some industries require different part numbers for the same type of part, depending on what the part is used for. A different part number can indicate that the same part has different installation requirements when it is used for different things.

Procedure

  1. On the Asset tab of the Assets application, display the asset record whose item number you want to change.
  2. Select the Change Item Number action.
  3. In the New Item field, type a value, and click OK.
