Configuring Maximo IT for API integration

Maximo IT includes pre-configured OSLC resources. Several items require configuration that pertains to the environment.

Set up basic authentication

Maximo IT service administrator can view, create, and update services in Service View via OSLC. Maximo IT exposes the service objects by using OSLC APIs. To access the OSLC APIs, the administrator must enter an API key generated from the API Keys application in Maximo IT. Follow the steps below to generate the API key.
  1. Log in to Maximo IT as the administrator.
  2. Go to the menu and search for the API Keys application.
  3. Click the Add API key button.
  4. Use the Lookup icon to look and select the admin user.
  5. Enter a value for the Token expiry in minutes field.
  6. Click Create to generate the token.
  7. The token card for the user on the API Keys application page.
  8. Click on Copy key to copy the generated key.
  9. Go to the OSLC API server and click on the Authorization tab.
  10. Enter a value for Key.
  11. Enter the value for API Key as copied from the API Keys application in Step 8.
  12. Choose Header for Add to option.
  13. Click Save.
  14. The authentication is complete.
