Testing the integration

Once the configurations are complete, it’s essential to validate the integration by triggering a test event. This ensures that webhook communication is working as expected and that incidents are being successfully created in Maximo IT.

Steps to test the webhook integration

  1. In Instana, go to the Alert Channels section. (Settings > Global Settings > Events and Alerts > Alert Channels).
  2. Open the channel created earlier.
  3. Set the Webhook URL to: https://<your_maximo_host>/maximo/oslc/os/INSTANA_INC.
  4. Add any custom HTTP headers required (e.g., authentication headers).
  5. Save and click Test Channel.

Expected Result

Upon successful execution:
  • A new incident record should be automatically created in Maximo IT.
  • The incident will include details from the test payload sent by Instana.
  • Navigate to the Incidents application in Maximo IT to confirm the entry was created as expected.

Once verified, your Instana alerts will be fully integrated with Maximo IT’s Incident Management system. You can now assign real-time alerts to resolver teams and improve your operational response times.
