Configuring watsonx in Maximo IT

This section describes the System Administrator tasks to connect Maximo IT to the watsonx assistant. This allows Maximo IT users to chat with a watsonx virtual assistant to help with resolving issues and raising tickets.

Configuring watsonx in Maximo IT

watsonx integration in Maximo IT can be done using the System Properties and Chatops Configuration application. Maximo IT administrator will access watsonx API to establish a connection from Maximo IT to watsonx. Once a connection is established, values will be set in System property application to enable this integration.
  1. Log in to Maximo IT as an administrator and go to Integration > ChatOps Configuration.
  2. Go to the Watson tab and enter API Key, Assistant ID, API Version, and Base URL. Administrators can obtain this information from IBM cloud. To know more, see Configuring watsonx Assistant on IBM cloud.
  3. Save your changes.

Set System Properties value to configure watsonx

Apart from Configuring watsonx on ChatOps configuration page a system property also needs to be set true to chat with the watsonx Assistant. Follow the steps below to set the system property:
  1. Log in to Maximo IT as an administrator and go to System Configuration > Platform Configuration > System Properties.
  2. Search for the property com.ibm.ism.watsonchat.
  3. Set the Global value of the property to true and save it.
  4. Select the property and click Live Refresh.
  5. Log out and log in to reflect the changes.
