Assigning a Workflow to an Offering

When creating an offering, a workflow can be assigned to the offering in the Offerings application.

A certain offering can be set as 'pre-approved' if it doesn't need any approvals before being granted to the requestors. Offerings that need approval can be associated with a default workflow or a custom workflow which is defined using the Workflow Designer application. When an end-user submits a service request for an offering that needs approval, it will directly go to the respective supervisor's My Approval queue and once it receives the approval, it goes into further steps and is closed as per the steps defined in the selected workflow.

The steps to assign a workflow to an offering are as follows:
  1. Log in to Maximo IT as a Service desk agent or an administrator.
  2. Go to the Offerings application.
  3. Open the Offering that you want to work with. Enter the name in Offering field or create a new offering by clicking on Insert an offering.
  4. After filling in all the required details, scroll down to the Workflow section.
  5. To set the offering as pre-approved, turn the Pre-approved toggle ON.
  6. To assign an approval workflow to the offering, click on the Type dropdown.
  7. To set the workflow as default, select Default.
    Note: When default workflow is selected for an offering, any service request raised for the said offering will be sent to the Fulfillment manager for the approval before it proceeds to next steps for closure.
  8. To set the workflow as a custom workflow defined for your process, go to the Workflow field and click on the Detail Menu icon.
  9. Select a workflow from the list that has been defined in the Workflow Designer application. To know more about configuring a workflow in the Workflow Designer application, see Defining a Workflow for Approval Process.
  10. Save your offering.

Any Service requests submitted for this offering will go to the supervisor's My Approvals section for approval. Once approval is received, the Offering will be granted as per steps defined in the selected worflow.
