Creating a composite model

Create a composite model to combine the use of multiple models in a sequence of steps that can enhance overall inspection performance.

Before you begin

Ensure that all of the models that you want to use in the composite model are deployed. A composite model cannot be deployed if any of the member models are not deployed.

About this task

You must configure the first step in a composite model to use one or more object detection models. Each subsequent step can then be configured to use the target inputs from the object detection model in a previous step.

Procedure

  1. Create a composite model by completing the following steps:
    1. On the Models page, click Create composite model.
    2. Click the new composite model to start adding steps.
    3. Add the first step by selecting an object detection model.
Note: You can select more than one model for each step.
    4. Add the second step by selecting another model.
    5. Select the target input for the model and configure the cropping dimensions and minimum confidence score.
Note: The objects that are detected by the previous step are used to select the target input for the model. Target inputs are not available from a classification model in the previous step.
    6. When the composite model is complete, click Add. Your composite model is displayed on the Models page.
    7. Deploy your composite model.
  2. Apply the composite model to an inspection by completing the following steps:
    1. Open a previously configured inspection or create an inspection.
    2. Click the Configuration tab.
    3. Select the project and data sets for saving images in Maximo® Visual Inspection.
    4. From the Deployed model location list, select Local.
Note: Composite models exist only on the local Maximo Visual Inspection Edge node.
    5. From the Deployed model list, select your composite model.
    6. Optional: Click Review inspection to verify that your inspection is correct.
    7. Click Enable inspection.
    8. Optional: On the Inspection page, click the Images tab to view the inspection results.
