Models
You can configure an inspection to use models that are either remotely or locally deployed.
Inspection mode
Models are sets of algorithms that are trained to identify objects in images. Model builders train and deploy models in Maximo® Visual Inspection. In Maximo Visual Inspection Edge, these remotely deployed models can be used by inspections that run in inspecting mode. You can also download these models, deploy them locally, and use them in inspections.
Training and deploying models
Model builders use images to train models. You can provide images to your model builders by creating an inspection that runs in collecting mode.
After the model builders label objects or classify images in the data set, they train and deploy the model. Deploying the model generates an API endpoint that allows other applications to use the model. For example, an inspection in Maximo Visual Inspection Edge that runs in inspecting mode can use a deployed model to inspect images.
Downloadable models
The Downloadable tab on the Models page contains the models that were trained on Maximo Visual Inspection. When these models are deployed in Maximo Visual Inspection, you can configure an inspection to use them as a remote model type. You can also download and deploy these models locally for use in inspections.
Local models
You can view and deploy the models that you downloaded from the Maximo Visual Inspection server in the Local tab on the Models page. Before you deploy a model for use as a local model type model in an inspection, check the GPU usage status to verify that your system has enough space to deploy a model. Models are deployed across all GPUs.
