Input sources

An input source is the source from which the data is processed by an inspection, such as a camera. An inspection must have an input source so that it can receive and process data as part of an inspection.

Types of input sources

An unlimited number of inspections can use the same input source. The following input source types are supported:

  • Network folders that support videos and images
  • Cameras

Supported device and file types

The following table displays the supported device and file types for input sources:

Camera

Any internet protocol (IP) camera that supports real time streaming protocol (RTSP), such as the Amcrest ProHD 1080P

Basler cameras that are compatible with the GigE Vision interface standard. For more information, see the Adding a Basler camera that is compatible with the GigE Vision interface standard.

Image folder Image files in the following formats: JPEG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, PBM, PGM, PPM, PXM
Video folder Video files in the following formats: MP4, MOV

Testing an input source

Test that the input source is configure correctly in an active inspection. In an inspection configuration, click the Images tab and then click Test input source.

Troubleshoot image quality issues and verify that the view of the inspected object is unobstructed. Captured test images are not added to the set of displayed images.
