An input source is the source of the images that are processed by an inspection, such as
a camera.
Check that your system has available GPU memory to add an input source. You can check the
remaining GPU memory on the Models page. You can add a maximum of 10 input
sources for each GPU in the system.
About this task
An inspection must have an input source so that it can receive and process data as part of
an inspection. The following input source types are supported:
- Network folders that support videos and images
- Cameras
For more information about input source types, see Input sources.
-
In Maximo® Visual Inspection Edge, from the side navigation menu, click Input sources and then click Create.
-
Select an input source type from the list.
If you select a network folder, the folder type determines the file types that are processed.
For example, if you select a video folder, it is only the video files in the folder that are processed in an inspection.
-
If you are using a network folder, complete the following steps:
-
Enter a folder name and an input source name.
- Optional:
Enter a description.
-
Click Add.
The folder that you specify is created in the /volume/data/images
folder of the Maximo Visual Inspection Edge installation directory.
-
Click the input source to open it.
-
Click Add files to upload the appropriate video or image files.
- Optional:
Test that the input source is working by clicking Test input
source.
You can see how many files are processed in the Processing totals section. If the folder is used by enabled inspections, some of the files that you upload might be processed before you save your changes.
-
If you are using a camera, complete the following steps:
-
Enter the input source URL.
- Optional:
Enter a URL username and URL password.
-
Enter the input source name.
- Optional:
Enter a description.
- Optional:

source.
