Testing strategies
Test your application upgrade.
Consider the following test strategies for application upgrades:
- Get the test data set.
- Appoint an experienced SME to lead and direct work for a QA to run a successful test cycle for system test and script testing.
- Collect and reuse test scripts from previous implementations, adapt these scripts for new or updated functionality.
- Conduct more regression testing (outside of documented scripts) comparing source system to IBM out of the box system directly. Verify that the functionality is unchanged after the upgrade.
- Conduct regular status calls on progress.
- Testing can be done with minimal application configuration knowledge.
- Test all flows in the changed workflows.
- Plan and perform Functional Verification testing to test, for example, changed workflow.
- Plan and perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate the changes to business processes.
- So that testers understand the functionality, provide documentation about the new functionality so they are aware of what to test.
