How do you import Microsoft project files?
Microsoft Project files can be imported into the Gantt scheduler by selecting an MPP file, choosing a task type, and importing, with options to retain original planned start dates or adopt TRIRIGA project dates.
You can import project files from Microsoft Project into the Gantt scheduler. You can also export projects from the Gantt scheduler and import them into Microsoft Project. When tasks are imported from Microsoft Project into the Maximo® Real Estate and Facilities project, the # column in the task table of the Gantt scheduler displays a non-zero number. When you create a task directly in the Gantt scheduler, the # column displays a 0.
To import a Microsoft Project project into the Gantt scheduler, perform the following steps:
- Open an existing
Maximo Real Estate and
Facilities project or create a project, complete
the required fields, and click Create Draft.Import settings:
By default, the import process adopts the Maximo Real Estate and Facilities project plan start date for the import. If you want to retain the original planned start date from the Microsoft Project MPP file, clear the Maximo Real Estate and Facilities project plan start date, and save the project before you go to Step 2.
The Microsoft Project import will not automatically schedule the imported project plan if the Maximo Real Estate and Facilities server is using Gantt properties=MINIMAL or FALSE. The Gantt scheduler will do the scheduling.
- Click the Import From MS Project action.
- In the Project Importer, in the Details section of the General tab, click the Import File icon and select an MPP file.
- Select a Task Type for the imported tasks (Schedule, Work, or Inspection).
- Click Import.
