Generating planning data

The master planning data is a time-based snapshot of the current state of the supply and demand data that is used by the space management application.

Before you begin

Before you generate data for a planning environment, check that the configuration of the data meets the requirements to generate the correct data.

About this task

When you generate data for a planning environment, you can change the current period for the data. By changing the current period for the data, you can move the planning environment data from one planning period to the next.

Restriction: If you change the current period, you cannot return to a previously selected period. You can change the current period only to a period within the planning year.

Procedure

  1. Select the Generate Data action on the planning environment action bar.
  2. Optional: Change the current period.
  3. Click Continue.
While the data is generating, the planning environment is locked in read-only state with a status of Processing. Depending on the level of detail in the data to be gathered, this process can take several hours.

Results

After data is generated, the planning environment is editable and returns to its prior status. The Forecast tab and the Summary section, Planning Data section, Supply Summary section, and Data Capture Log section are now populated. Select the Show Processes action to view the list of processes that completed. Click Save & Close to save the changes to the Planning Environment record.
