Uploading a drawing

This process delivers the same outcomes as the Smart Attach feature in CAD Integrator. Specifically, it:
  • Creates or updates spaces based on the drawing
  • Imports drawing geometry into the system
  • Links the floor and its spaces to the corresponding graphic elements
Uploading a drawing provides a browser-based alternative to the CAD Integrator Smart Attach feature. This functionality is available in the Drawings tab of the Dynamic Space Planning application and in the Drawing Manager application. You can upload a .dxf file generated from a CAD drawing that has been poly-lined according to CAD Integrator standards.
Note: It is recommended to compare the area calculated through the drawing upload process with the results from the CAD Integrator and BIM Connector to assess whether the drawing upload's accuracy meets your requirements.

The upload process consists of seven steps to be completed in sequence, with two available navigation methods.

  • Next and Previous buttons located at the bottom of the screen
  • The progress indicator displayed at the top of the screen

The Next button becomes active only after all required actions for the current step are completed. If you return to step 2, subsequent steps are marked as incomplete and you must complete them again. If you change values in step 2, the drawing is reanalyzed and invalidates previously completed work.

The following limitations apply when uploading a drawing (.dxf file):
  • Only space mapping is supported: The Drawing Upload feature supports only the CAD Integrator’s space mapping functionality specifically, attaching a floor and creating/attaching spaces.
  • Incompatible with BIM-integrated floors: Drawings cannot be uploaded to floors that are already linked to a BIM model. If an upload is attempted, an error message appears and the process is halted.
  • Limited support for Revit and Maximo® Real Estate and Facilities Connector for BIM exports: .dxf files exported from Revit or the Maximo Real Estate and Facilities Connector for BIM are supported on a best-effort basis and may require extensive manual configuration.
  • Maximo Real Estate and Facilities Connector for BIM restriction: Cannot be used on any building that has a floor attached via drawing upload.
