Selecting layers

In this step, you define the layer structure of the uploaded drawing. This configuration determines how the system interprets the drawing elements.

Note:
  • All fields must be completed for this step to be marked as complete, except for the Space Class Layer, which is optional.
  • Changing any selection in this step will invalidate and discard all progress made in subsequent steps.

Layer definitions

  • Gross Area Layer: Should contain a single polyline representing the total gross area of the floor. Only polylines are considered; any other entities are ignored.
  • Gross Measured Area Layer (Rentable Area): Should also contain a single polyline. Its area is used to calculate the gross measured (rentable) floor area. Non-polyline entities are ignored.
  • Space Boundary Layer: Must include a set of polylines defining the boundaries of individual spaces. Nested polylines may be used to represent space–subspace relationships, with support for one level of nesting. In special cases (e.g., voids within subspaces), a third nested level may appear.
Note: Unlike in CAD Integrator, subspaces and voids can be fully enclosed within their parent space.
  • Space Name Layer: Expected to contain text labels representing space names. Each label must be entirely enclosed within a space boundary polyline.
  • Space Class Layer (optional): Similar to the Space Name Layer, but labels correspond to space class names. These are used to assign classifications to spaces, if provided.

Units of Measure:

  • Drawing Units of Measure: Specifies the units used in the dxf file. Defaults to inches.
  • Space Units of Measure: Defines the units used for calculating and displaying floor and space areas. The drawing units will be converted to these units. If a unit is already defined for the selected floor, this value will be pre-filled and read-only.

Layer selection methods

Layers can be selected in two ways:

  • Drop-down selection: Choose the appropriate layer name from each drop-down menu.
  • Interactive selection: Activate layer selection mode and click on an element in the drawing. When hovering over an element, its layer is highlighted for easy identification.
