Integrating with Cisco Webex

By integrating with Cisco Webex, you can understand movement and usage patterns across spaces to uncover utilization insights.

Before you begin

In Cisco Webex Control Hub, activate the IBM® Maximo® Real Estate and Facilitiesworkspace integration. To begin the activation, in Cisco Webex Control Hub, on the Workspace page, on the Integrations tab, select the IBM Maximo Real Estate and Facilities integration and then click Actions > Activate. Ensure that you copy and save the following values:

  • Activation code
  • Client ID
  • Client secret

You can configure only one integration with Cisco Webex.

Procedure

  1. In Maximo Monitor, on the Integrations tab, click Add integration.
  2. Select Cisco Webex and click Next.
  3. In the Integration name field, specify the CISCO_WEBEX as a name. A device type will be created that uses the integration name. The device type will contain all Cisco Webex devices and metrics for those devices.
  4. In the Activation key field, specify the activation code.
  5. In the Device client ID field, specify the client ID.
  6. In the Device client secret field, specify the client secret.
  7. Click Finish.
  8. Click Configure device subscription.
  9. For devices that you want to subscribe to, click the three-dot menu and then click Subscribe. When a device is subscribed, it sends data to Maximo Monitor from Cisco Webex. Each device that you subscribe to is added to the Cisco Webex device type.
    It can take up to an hour to retrieve new devices or data from Cisco Webex.
  10. For each device that you subscribed to, click the three-dot menu and then click Assign location.
  11. Assign the device to a location in your location hierarchies and then click Save.

Results

It can take a few minutes to initially populate the Cisco Webex device type.

By default, all Cisco Webex device types contain the peopleCurrentCount metric.

What to do next

If you unsubscribe from a device, you can optionally remove all data that is related to the device, including data for the device type metrics.

If you have also integrated with Cisco Spaces and IBM Maximo Real Estate and Facilities and added the devices that monitor the spaces to Maximo Monitor, you can configure and use the Workplace Analytics dashboard. For more information, see Workplace Analytics dashboards.
