Simulating devices in the IoT tool

You can set up simulated devices in the IoT tool to test and demonstrate features for the latest versions of Maximo® Monitor device types.

Before you begin

To simulate device data, from the Setup page, create a new device type and then complete the following steps.

1. In the IoT tool, click Settings.
2. In the Data and Devices section, in the Device Simulator section, set Device Simulator to on.
3. Select the Simulations Running box.
4. Click Create simulation and select the device type that you created.
5. In Event Type Name field, specify a name.
6. In the Schedule field, specify a schedule for the event.
7. In the Payload field, specify the event details. The following text is an example of a payload.

8. Click Save.
9. To add another event, click the Edit icon and then click New Event Type.
10. Use the selector for the Create Simulated Devices button to select how many devices the IoT tool will simulate.
11. Ensure the toggle for the device type is active
12. In Maximo Monitor, select the device type and ensure that the simulated devices are added.
