Edge Data Collector

In Maximo® Monitor 8.11, you can use Edge Data Collector to access a library of device details and metrics. Before you use Edge Data Collector, you must complete configuration steps. In Maximo Monitor 9.0 and later, Edge Data Collector is known as the device library, is embedded in the device setup process, and does not require additional set up. The following information applies only to 8.11.

Note: While IBM values the use of inclusive language, terms that are outside of IBM's direct influence are sometimes required for the sake of maintaining user understanding. As other industry leaders join IBM in embracing the use of inclusive language, IBM will continue to update product code and user interfaces to reflect those changes.

Architecture

After Edge Data Collector is configured, Edge Data Collector sends the expected data and device information to IBM® Db2® Warehouse. Db2 Warehouse sends that information to the gateway or edge device.

When data is available, devices on your network send data to the gateway or edge device. The data is sent to the IoT tool. By using an IoT tool gateway, that data is then sent to Maximo Monitor.

Db2 Warehouse, the IoT tool, Edge Data Collector, and Maximo Monitor all exist within the Red Hat® OpenShift® cluster. The devices, gateway, or edge device all exist on your network.
