Planning for migration

Before you migrate your configuration content, devote sufficient time to develop a migration plan.

Planning a successful migration of configuration content requires you to do at least the following types of planning:

Form a qualified migration team to do the migration steps and tasks.
Identify the configuration changes and content that you must migrate.
Identify the source and target environments for your migration.
Devise a schedule for migrations.

You must also consider whether you must track the configuration content that you migrate in an external system, and how you handle the migration limitations that might apply to your content.
