Configuring

After you install the product, you can configure attached documents, databases, the help menu, and result set portlets.

Administering and configuring storage and attached document libraries
As an administrator, you can maintain attached documents for your applications in persistent storage or in cloud object storage.
Configuring databases
When your business needs change, you can create objects to extend the scope of your database before you create additional applications. As configuration changes are based on business rational, you must understand the structure of your database and the business requirements before you begin creating objects.
Work Center Configuration
Business analysts and administrators can evaluate business requirements and configure the top-level information for the Work Supervision and Work Execution Work Centers to make them more specific to certain user roles.
Work Centers
Work Centers are role-based user interfaces where users can access and complete daily tasks. By using Work Centers, you can access system data and complete tasks without opening multiple applications. You can use tools to complete specific tasks such as creating a service request, designing data sets for business analysis, or creating inspection forms.
Configuring service requests
You customize the selections that users make in the Service Requests tool by creating categories and adding issues as options for each category. You configure this information by using the Service Request Configuration page.
Configuring actions for inspections
By using automation scripts, system administrators can define custom actions that are available to inspectors and inspector supervisors when they complete an inspection.
Creating notification message templates
You create notification message templates to define notifications.
Creating notification events
You create notification events to notify users of asset and work order information by way of email, SMS, or a Work Center notification.
Changing the deletion frequency of notifications
The NOTFDELETE cron task controls which notifications are deleted from the system. You can change the PURGETIME parameter for this cron task to change how old a notification is before it is deleted.
Managing notifications
Notifications are used to communicate the status of your assets. In the Notifications application, you can create, update, or delete notifications. In the Work Center, you can manage notifications and your subscriptions to notifications.
Administering Work Centers
Work Centers are role-based user interfaces where users can access and complete daily tasks. After you have access to a Work Center, either you or your administrator can apply additional configurations.
Configuring the Help menu
You can add custom menu links to the Maximo® Manage Help menu from Maximo Manage version 8.5 onwards.
Configuring result set portlets
You can specify that rows in a result set portlet are colored if they meet a condition. For example, the rows for the incidents with a priority of 1 are colored in red. You can also include related attributes in the result set. For example, you can display the given name and surname of a user, rather than their user ID.
Configuring service requests
Administrators can use the Service Request Configuration page of the Administration Work Center to configure the options that users have when they create service requests.
Configuring integration
As the system administrator, you can integrate your Manage system with other applications in your enterprise or with an external system or application. In the Administration Work Center, on the Integration tab, you can access some predefined integration components that enable integration with Manage business objects, and you can create and configure message templates and API keys. You use message templates and API keys as part of the Maximo integration framework. You can create, edit, and review other integration components for the Maximo integration framework in Manage applications.
Customizing Maximo Manage workload scale
Maximo Manage supports changes to the CPU, memory, ephemeral storage, and limits for the Manage admin and server pods, which enable you to adjust resource requirements according to workloads. You can also scale Maximo Manage servers according to workloads.
