Activities and tasks overview
An activity specifies the tasks, and the labor, materials,
services, and tools needed to complete the task. Activities are created
to document the required work, which can then be delegated to the
individuals responsible for completing the work.
Record ownership
The owner of a record is the person or person group that is in charge of the record from an administrative perspective.
Activity statuses
The status of an activity indicates its position in the processing cycle. The status determines which actions can be performed on the activity. For example, if the activity is approved (APPR), then the tasks can start.
Measurement points
When you inspect an asset or a location, you can record and view the meter readings that correspond to measurement points in the job plan of the associated work order. You can also insert measurement points on an activity until the activity or task is closed.
Service level agreements
A service level agreement (SLA) typically is a written agreement that outlines the commitment between a service provider and its customers. A commitment is a service level that all parties have agreed to, such as asset reliability or availability.
Record relationships
Relationships between records, such as tickets and work orders, help simplify record management. You can create record relationships manually, or relationships might be created automatically when you take certain actions.
Costs on tickets and work orders
You can view the estimated and actual costs for a single work order or ticket, including costs for labor, material, tools, and services. You can also view total costs for the current record and all the records within its hierarchy.
Work plan removal
Under certain circumstances, you can remove a work plan from an activity by using the Remove Work Plan action.
Deletion rules for activities
For auditing purposes, you cannot always delete activities. If you cannot delete a specific activity, you can stop all action on an activity by changing the status to canceled.
Rules for modifying archived activities
Closed and canceled activities are archived, and become historical records. You might be able to add additional information to a historical record by using the Edit History Activity action.
