In the strategy library, you can review details for failures that can occur for the
specified asset. You can explore mitigation activities and compare the effectiveness of each
activity at finding a failure mode before a failure occurs. You can copy the details into your
preventive maintenance and job plan.
Before you begin
Ensure that you are a member of a Reliability Strategies security group. For more
information, see Reliability Strategies.
About this task
In
Maximo Manage 9.0, you can create
custom strategies. These strategies are available from the Custom strategies
tab and are not searchable within the strategy library. For more information about creating custom
strategies, see Creating strategies.
Procedure
-
In Reliability Strategies, select the asset that you want to view details for.
The available assets are from the library of asset details that is included with Reliability Strategies.
- In
Maximo Manage 8.11, complete the following
steps:
- In the Asset field, select an asset.
- In the Asset type field, select an asset type.
- In the Asset configuration field, select an asset configuration.
- In
Maximo Manage 9.0, complete
the following steps:
- On the Strategy library tab, in the Asset class
field, select an asset class.
- In the Asset subclass field, select an asset subclass.
- In the Asset configuration field, select an asset configuration.
- Click Get strategy.
- On the Failure modes tab, review possible failures. Start from the
asset part or component where the failure occurs and then review the failure mechanisms and
influences.
A failure mechanism is why the failure occurs, such as due to wear or a
leak. A mechanism is similar to a problem failure code.
A failure influence is how the
failure occurs, such as due to improper installation or age. An influence is similar to a cause
failure code.
- On the Mitigation activities tab, specify an operating context and
then review mitigation activities for that context.
Activities that do not apply in the
chosen context do not have a frequency value in the list or in the Frequency
field.
For more information about how operating context values are defined, click the
information icon. The definitions are asset-specific.
- Click the Copy icon to copy the preventive maintenance or job plan
details.
- Paste the details into the description field of your preventive maintenance or job plan
records.
