Setting up Microsoft Azure blob storage

Set up your Microsoft Azure blob storage account to use it with Maximo® Manage.

Before you begin

Create a storage account in Microsoft Azure or use a pre-existing account.

Procedure

  1. Log in to your Microsoft Azure account and record your storage account name.
  2. In your storage account, create a new container or record an existing container.
Note: Microsoft Azure is a flat file system with virtual folders. You do not need to create subfolders unless you want to import files. If you are importing files, create the subfolder when you add the documents that you want to upload to Microsoft Azure.

Empty folders in Microsoft Azure are deleted automatically. You can specify folder names in endpoints or system properties when necessary.

  3. Click Security > Networking and configure the access key.
    • If you are accessing Microsoft Azure from Maximo Manage by using a shared access signature (SAS) key:
      1. Click Shared Access Signature.
      2. Select the necessary allowed resource types.
Note: Select the resource types for proper usage of Maximo Manage cloud storage.
      3. Configure the time expiration.
      4. Click Generate SAS and connection string.
      5. Reveal and record the SAS key for later use.
    • If you are accessing Microsoft Azure from Maximo Manage by using a storage account shared key:
Note: A shared key includes blanket coverage of all actions in Microsoft Azure without any time expiration.
      1. Click Access keys.
      2. For key1, click Show
      3. Record the access key for use later.
