Integration scripts

Integration scripts include publish channel scripts, enterprise service scripts, invoke channel scripts, and endpoint scripts.

Integration script points
Scripting is enabled in the Maximo® integration framework to support customization and customization options for processing rules, Java™, and XSL. If you customize by using Java, scripting offers an alternative approach that removes the need to rebuild and redeploy the Maximo EAR file. Scripting is enabled at processing points on most of the integration components that currently support Java as a means to customize the product.
Object structure scripts
The object structure provides the message definition and content for other integration components like the publish channel. In addition, the object structure by itself can support the exchange of Maximo data with external applications and clients by using, for example, REST.
Publish channel scripts
Publish channels provide the outbound integration foundation of IBM® Maximo Manage. Publish channels can be event-enabled so that when some Maximo business objects are added, updated, or deleted, these channels can trap those events and publish a message to the outbound Java message service queues. You can also do offline exports by using the channel from the External Systems application or from cron jobs to start the export API of the channel. The messages then get picked up from those queues and get pushed to their final destination by using the endpoint and handler framework.
Enterprise service scripts
Invoke channel scripts
Like publish channels, invoke channels are used for outbound invocation from IBM Maximo Manage. The only difference is that the publish channel is one-way, request only, and the invoke channel is two-way, request and response. Since there is a request and response, there are two sets of exits: one set for request and one set for response.
Endpoint scripts
You can write Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) endpoint handlers by using automation scripts. For example, you can write a handler for sending emails.
Integration with workflow
The user interface framework enables you to automatically start a workflow when you save the application Maximo business object (MBO).
Message-driven bean scripting
You can add new message-driven beans to use messages from an external Java Message Service (JMS) server.
