Extended dates
An extended date overrides a preventive maintenance (PM) record's typical next due date for generating PM work orders. This date only applies to the current PM record; it does not apply to other PMs in a PM hierarchy.
The Extended Date and related fields are on the Frequency tab in the Preventive Maintenance and Master PM applications.
Things to know about extended dates:
- An extended date overrides seasonal dates of a PM.
- If an extended date is used on a parent PM in a hierarchy and one child PM is due to generate a work order earlier than the extension date, the entire PM hierarchy generates work orders earlier than the extension date. After the work orders are generated, all extended dates in the hierarchy are cleared.
- After you generate work orders from the PM, the system clears the values in the Extended Date field and the Adjust Next Due Date check box.
- You can choose whether the extended date affects subsequent due
dates for a PM:
If the Adjust Next Due Date check box is selected, the calculation of the next due date after a work order is generated from the PM is: Extended Date + Frequency.
If the Adjust Next Due Date check box is cleared, the calculation is: Next Due Date + Frequency.
If the extended date is later than the calculation of the Next Due Date + Frequency, you can disrupt the frequency cycle of the PM. A warning window advises you that using such an extended date can disrupt the frequency cycle and job plan sequence of the PM.
