Adding an extended date to a preventive maintenance record

Add an extended date to a preventive maintenance (PM) record to override the typical next due date for generating PM work orders.

About this task

An extended date only applies to the current PM record; it does not apply to other PMs in a PM hierarchy. Extended dates override seasonal dates.

Procedure

  1. In the Preventive Maintenance application, select the PM record that you want to add an extended date to.
  2. On the Frequency tab, ensure that there is a date in the Estimated Next Due Date field. If you need a value in the Estimated Next Due Date field, specify a value.
  3. In the Extended Date field, specify a value.
  4. Select the Adjust Next Due Date check box to let the system adjust this date after generating the work order for the PM. Select this check box to add an extended date.

If the Adjust Next Due Date check box is selected, the calculation of the next due date after a work order is generated from the PM is: Extended Date + Frequency.

If the Adjust Next Due Date check box is cleared, the calculation is: Next Due Date + Frequency.

If the extended date is later than the calculation of the Next Due Date + Frequency, you might disrupt the frequency cycle of the PM. A warning window advises you that using such an extended date might disrupt the frequency cycle and the job plan sequence. Click OK to continue with the extended date that you have entered. Click Cancel to clear the Extended Date field or to enter a different extension date.
