Defining frequency for meter-based master PMs

Specify frequency for a meter-based master preventive maintenance (PM) record to determine how often its associated PMs generate work orders.

About this task

For meter-based PMs, the generation criteria is based on metered equipment usage since the target start date or completion date of previous work.

Procedure

  1. In the Master PM application, display the master PM you want to define frequency for.
  2. Click the Frequency tab.
  3. Select one of the following options to specify whether you want associated PMs to be on a fixed or floating schedule:
    • To use a fixed schedule, select the Use Last Work Order's Start Date to Calculate Next Due Date check box.
    • To use a floating schedule, clear the Use Last Work Order's Start Date to Calculate Next Due Date check box.
  4. On the Meter Based Frequency subtab, click New Row.
  5. In the Meter field, specify a value based on how much metered activity you want to occur between PM work orders for this asset.
You can only select continuous-type meters.
  6. Optional: In the Frequency and First Start Reading fields, specify values.
The value in the First Start Reading field is the first meter reading at which the associated PMs generate work orders.
  7. Optional: Enter multiple meter frequency criteria by repeating steps 4 through 6.
  8. Optional: Update meter-based frequency information about the associated PMs by selecting the Update Meter Based Information in Existing PMs check box. When you update associated PMs, the meter-based information is copied to the associated PM records.
  9. Save the record.
