Master Preventive Maintenance records

Master preventive maintenance records (master PMs) are templates that you use for other PMs, called associated PMs. Master PMs can be shared across sites and organizations.

A master PM does not generate work orders like other PMs. Instead, it is used to generate associated PMs. Associated PMs are managed in the Preventive Maintenance application. You can create associated PM records from master PM records, or make associations between PM records and a master PM. You can use the scheduling information about a master PM record to update its associated PM records.

Master PMs can contain job plan information, as well as information about active seasons for associated PMs. When you create a master PM, you determine how associated PMs schedule work for the assets. You can create schedules based on the following conditions:

  • Elapsed time since the target start date or completion date of previous work. PMs for this work are called time-based PMs.
  • Metered equipment usage since the target start date or completion date of previous work. PMs for this work are called meter-based PMs.
  • A combination of elapsed time and metered usage. For example, you can schedule a PM to trigger work every six months or every 300 hours, whichever comes first.

You can create flexible schedules for PMs by using lead times, seasonal and extended dates, and by triggering work outside of a PM frequency cycle.
