Adding hazardous materials to safety plans

Add hazardous materials to a safety plan to inform workers of hazards associated with the work assets and related assets and locations on the safety plan.

Before you begin

  1. In the Hazards application, create the hazard, select the Can Have Hazardous Materials check box, and define the hazardous material.
  2. In the Safety Plans application, create the safety plan.

Procedure

  1. In the Safety Plans application, display the safety plan that you want to update.
  2. Associate one or more hazardous materials with the safety plan:
    1. On the Hazardous Materials tab, click New Row.
    2. In the Hazard field, specify a hazard.
      The NFPA ratings for the hazardous material are displayed.
    3. Optional: In the Related Location field or the Related Asset field, specify a value.
  3. Click Save Safety Plan.

Results

If a precaution is associated with any hazard that you specified, the hazard also appears on the Hazards and Precautions tab.
