Package definition status

The status of a package definition determines the actions that you can apply to the package definition and its packages.

You change the status of a package definition by using the Migration Manager application. The status might also change when you do some steps in the migration process. A package definition can have one of the following statuses:

Wappr (Waiting for approval)
Wappr is the default status when you create or duplicate a package definition. You can modify a package definition only when its status is Wappr. You can change this status to Appr only.
Appr (Approved)
You cannot modify a package definition whose status is Appr. You can toggle the status of a package definition between Appr and Locked. You can change this status to Locked or Wappr. You can activate a Change package definition only when its status is Appr.
Locked
The following restrictions apply to a package definition whose status is Locked:
  • You cannot change the content of the package definition.
  • You cannot create or distribute packages based on the package definition.
  • You cannot create distributions from the package definition.
  • For Change package definitions, you cannot reset tracking records.
  • In a target environment, you cannot deploy a package that is based on a locked package definition.
You can toggle the status of a package definition between Locked and Appr. You can change this status to Appr only.

You can override the default status of Wappr for a package definition by setting the mxe.dm.autoapprovepkgdef property in the System Properties application. If you specify a value of 1 for the system property, the default status is Appr. Specify a value of 0 to use the default status.
