Using the assignment status values

Use the values for Assignment Status and then see real time and historical dispatching information for your work order assignments.

Work orders must be created with plans and assignments.

About this task

Starting in Maximo® Manage 9.1, a technician can update the assignment status value for a work order assignment in real time and then users obtain the following benefits.
  • A technician can accurately reflect progress and receive updated schedules.
  • A dispatcher can track real-time work order assignments, monitor technician progress, adjust schedules, and see dispatching history.
  • A customer receives timely updates about the status of their work orders, which allows them to plan accordingly.

The values for Assignment Status are more granular than the values for Status. In the UI, the values list for Assignment Status is sequential and not alphabetical and the list of values is in the synonym domain DISPATCHSTATUS. To understand how the values for Assignment Status map to the values for Status, see the following table.

Procedure

  1. Open the Work Order Tracking application or the Assignment Manager application.
  2. Open a work order.
  3. Go to the Assignments tab.
  4. Scroll down to the Assignments section.
  5. If the assignment has a assignment status value of UNASSIGNED, assign a labor or crew and the assignment status value changes to ASSIGNED.
  6. In the Assignments section, go to the Assignment Status column and complete one of the actions.
    • See the real-time values in Assignment Status for the assignments.
    • Click the Change Assignment Status icon for an assignment and in the Change Assignment Status dialog enter the new details.
    • Click the Dispatching History icon for an assignment and in the Dispatching History window see the dispatching history information, which covers resource and status changes.
