Tool statuses

You can manage a tool's status for all related records. A set of inheritance rules is used to apply status changes from a higher level to a lower level.

In the Tools application, a tool status change is applied to the organization level. From the organization level, a status change is applied to the inventory level.

The following list describes tool statuses:

• Pending - Pending items are not available when you try to record selected general ledger transactions, and are not visible from tool lookups. This status applies to the following general ledger transactions:
  • Material use transactions (MATUSETRANS)
  • Material receipts transactions (MATRECTRANS)
  • Inventory transactions (INVTRANS), except for insert item (INSERTITEM)
• Planning - Planning items are not available when you try to record selected general ledger transactions. This status applies to the following general ledger transactions:
  • Material use transactions
  • Material receipts transactions (only issue, transfer, or receipt types)
• Active - Active items are available without restrictions.
• Pending obsolescence - This status indicates that you can use existing items, but cannot replenish existing balances.
• Obsolete - You can use obsolete items only to generate invoices. Obsolete items are not visible from tool lookups.
