Safety plan precedence

You can associate safety plans with assets, locations, and items. You use safety plans to define safety requirements and procedures to fulfill regulatory requirements, and to inform employees of hazards that could occur while performing work, as well as actions to take to prevent accidents.

When you create a work plan from a job plan, only one safety plan is copied to the work order. The plan for a location or its associated rotating item takes precedence over the plan for the asset or its associated rotating item.

When you copy a safety plan to a work order, this job plan information is evaluated according to the following steps:
  1. If the location for the work order has a default safety plan, use that plan. If the location for the work order does not have associated default safety plan, go to the next step.
  2. If the rotating item associated with the location has a default safety plan, use that plan. If the rotating item associated with the location does not have a default safety plan, go to the next step.
  3. If the asset for the work order has a default safety plan, use that plan. If the asset for the work order does not have a default safety plan, go to the next step.
  4. If the rotating item associated with the asset has a default safety plan, use that plan. If the rotating item associated with the asset does not have a default safety plan, do not copy a safety plan to the generated work order.

When a safety plan is copied to a work order, the system copies all hazards, precautions, and hazardous materials.
