Route options and work order descriptions
When you define routes, you specify a route option. This option affects the description that appears on generated work orders, as well as the number, type, and content of those work orders.
When you specify the Child Work Orders option or the Work Order Tasks option, the system uses the following logic to assign a description to the generated work orders:
- If the route stop has a description, the route description becomes the work order description.
- If the route stop has no description and it refers to an asset, the work order description is a concatenation of the asset identifier and the asset description. If necessary, the concatenated description is truncated to accommodate the size of the description field.
- If the route stop has no description and it does not refer to an asset, the work order description is a concatenation of the location identifier and location description. If necessary, the concatenated description is truncated to accommodate the size of the description field.
When you specify the Entries in the Work Order's Multi Asset, Location, and CI Table option, no description is generated.
