Work order classes for job plans

To manage job plans, you can associate a default work order class with a job plan. Work orders specify a particular task to be accomplished, and the labor, materials, services, and tools needed to complete the work. The work order classes include activity, change, release, and work order.

When you use a job plan to create work order-based records, the default class of the job plan defines the class of the work order-based record. When you apply a nested job plan to the work order and the class of the parent is associated with the job plan, the child work order has the same class as the parent. If the class of the parent is not associated with the job plan, the default class of the job plan for the child is used. When you do not associate a work order class with a job plan, you can use the job plan for all classes.

Example of nested job plan

You have job plan 1 and job plan 2, which is nested to job plan 1. You associate nested job plan 2 with change and release work order classes, and change is the default class. When you apply job plan 1 to a release class record, the child that is created for the nested job plan has a release class because release is valid class for job plan 1.
