Creating item master records

You can create item records which identify items and contain information associated with items.

About this task

When creating an item record, list the parts that are used interchangeably with the item, and specify any condition codes for the item. You can choose to number items manually or have items automatically numbered.

The first time that you create an item, you can specify the percentage of items that can be received over the amount ordered in the initial agreement. The percentage value is applied to the organization level and to the vendor level. You can subsequently modify the receipt tolerance percentage in the Item/Organization Details window. You can also modify the receipt tolerance percentage in the Purchase Orders application.

Procedure

  1. On the toolbar of the Item Master application, click New Item.
  2. If the Item field is empty, type a value, and add a description to the Description field.
  3. In the Lot Type field, specify whether the item is lotted (LOT or NOLOT).
  4. Optional: In the Receipt Tolerance % field, indicate the percentage of items that can be received over the amount specified on the initial agreement.
  5. Specify additional fields as needed. An asterisk (*) indicates a required field.
  6. Click Save Item to add the item record to the database.
